This book series addresses drug counterfeiting and issues resulting from the trade of these illegal medicines particularly geographic sources, drug regulations, supply chain security, medications most at risk, threats to human health, adverse effects, environmental impact and forensic detection and identification. Economic instability and unemployment, accessibility of starting materials, strong demand, and internet marketplaces have fueled the production and sales of counterfeit drugs. The books in this series will feature works authored by scientists and policymakers. Case studies will be used to stimulate discussion and demonstrate needs for future work in the field.
It is hoped that the series will serve as a discussion forum for issues surrounding counterfeit drugs, allowing authors and editors to present strategies for detection and reduction of counterfeit medicines to improve the health and safety of people all over the world.
