About the Series

I am pleased to welcome you to the IPA in the Community Book Series. These volumes will present the outreach work of the International Psychoanalytic Association as it integrates itself into many facets of our community life. We will learn how psychoanalysis, while born in the consulting room, also has application far beyond. Its core skills inform care provided to many individuals and in many venues from cancer units to refugee centers, from prenatal clinics to prisons. Through this book series we will get the opportunity to observe the deeply generous and skillful work of psychoanalysts who are making meaningful contact with individuals both on and off the couch.
