Social Justice for Public Service

The Social Justice for Public Service book series is designed to amplify the voices of BlPOC, women, and LGBTQIA+ individuals, offering a counter narrative of social justice and liberation from the field’s dominant colonial-Euro-Anglo-Saxon-straight-patriarchal-militant-neoliberal-masculine authority. Books in the series take a liberatory approach, unmasking injustice and abandoning those practices that perpetuate racism and colonialism – forcing the field to remember what has been left out, forgotten, erased, and ignored – charting a new, more inclusive path. A defining feature of the Social Justice for Public Service book series is to introduce the field to thinkers who are pursuing a liberation agenda through their research and creative activities. In this way, an intersectional perspective is welcomed in books and works for this series.

The Social Justice for Public Service book series seeks single authored, multi-authored, and edited volumes on topics including but not limited to: postcolonial public administration; critical race theory in public service; feminist theory; queer theory; global and comparative perspectives on social justice and equity; Indigenous public administration; critical pedagogy; critical nonprofit studies; and socially just governance and policy. We welcome books that use non-traditional methods, that bring theories from under-represented locations, and that challenge the Eurocentric narrative. Scholars from all disciplines are encouraged to submit proposals to the series if there is a focus on the public sector broadly understood.
